ART IN THE cITY

Two more of the panel pictures with which the Royal Exchange is being beautified were unveiled by the Lord Mayor on Monday. They are the work of Mr. Seymour Lucas, R. A., and Mr. Sigismund Goetze. Mr. Lucas has depicted the geant of a charter to the city by William the Conqueror, and Mr. Goetze the offer of a crown to Richard, Duke of Gloucester, by the citizens at Baynard Castle, the famous old palace every stone of which has disappeared, though it still gives its name to one of the city wards. They are both worthy additions to the series which Lord Leighton began, and when the whole series is finished, it will form a very beautiful and appropriate decoration for the centre of mercantile London.
