Ships That Pass

For a time our harbour was kept pretty lively with transports northward. bound—No 32 passed through yesterday, and few of the lower numbers have not dropped motive assigned for this recalcitrancy. It remains to be seen whether the Boxers dare to attack either the neighbouring Christians or the Lighthouse. Not very likely, yet not impossible. The British authorities should not take any risks when the maintenance of a light is concerned. In these days, or rather nights, of hurrying transports and men-of-war, even a temporary suspension of function might endanger life and property to a very large extent.
