A Prophecy

Sir Otiver tells us a grant deal about the new atomic astronomy, and leads up to a final chapter on the possibility of discovering a means of harnessing the hitherto inaccessible energy of matter and of the ether. "The idea is coming to the front," he declares, "that some of what we think of as the ato energy of matter may be somehow made available. It is thought that this intrinsic energy is already being used to maintain the heat of the sun and other stars, though it is not yet tractable by any human device. Tt seems just possible that we may arrive at tapping the en-orgy of the ether before we have learnt to use the intrinsic energy of matter." He ends with the expression of a hope, however, that we shall not discover too many secrets of this kind until our knowledge and wisdom have increased to such 'a degree that we shall not_use them for deadly purposet—Dally News."
