Summing Up

In summing up the Coroner said:—Yeu have now heard the whole of the evidence regarding the disaster we are investigating. Before going further I wish to offer the deep sympathy of the Court to all who have been injured or bereaved. and to the ©.S.K. in whose care they were.

You ill remember the rumours that went round the Colony that ihere was high explosive on the launch, and, that this was responsible ihe violence of the explosion. Nothing whatever has been produced lend à support to this view, and there is ample evidence before us io prove that- everything that happened can be accounted for by the sudden release of steam under a pressure normal for a launch of the type of the Dojimz Maru, that is, 110 to 125 Ibs. per sq. inch. Major Walker's evidence alone appears conclusive on the point.
