Okamoto who "has #0" erectively "served. the Japanese community on the Counelt {or five years, itis a pleasure to note that the great firm of Mitsui Bussan Keisha has once again provided a strong Japanese representative Mr. Urabe who, in the short time that the has been "here, has gained the esteem of all sections of the community. "Mr. Porter's name is noted chiefly with' surprise that it has not yet been before the electorate, for Mr Porter's long experience of China and his versatility in public affairs make him, if it is possible to say such a thing, an inevitable choice for British representation, Mr, Killery, as. the Shanghai head of a British organtzation of world-wide importance, most suitable candidate. He has not been here long, but he possesses quall= Hes which have singled him out for Fecognition by men of acknowledged judgment in England and, as Mr.

Liddelt has proved so valuable recruit to the Council, another mem= of approximately the same Reneration might well be commended the electorate's suffrages. Mr. Hossenlopp is an esteemed citizen of Shanghat who possesses a wide knuqledge of conditions in other parts of the world. "He was for twenty years in Australia, He returned to his native country during the Great War and later he came to China by way of India. He has taken an intelligent interest in civic affairs and there little doubt that his candidature. will appeal to those who desire to see broader basis for the Council's presentation.
