Negro in Small Boat

New York, July 25.

Three adventurous sailing enthusiasts are setting out tomorrow on a crossing of the wide Atlantic Ocean in a 43-foot, 40-year-old sailing-boat, the Holland.

The Netherlanders, J. G. Kruijt and Dirk Hofman, and a Negro from Paramaribo, Netherlands Guinea, form the trio who will attempt the risky voyage. They will start out from Montauk Point, Long Island, making for Holland, which they hope to reach in 28 days.

Their vessel has but one safety device on board—a Diesel engine that the trio may decide to use if they are beset by too heavy weather—Havas.
