In the presence of many mourners a Requiem Mass was held on Thursday morning at St, Peter's Church for the late Mr. Daniel Maria Freire Corte-
Real, with the Rev. Father Jacquinot officiating. Mr. Carte-Real was a highly respected member of the Por tuguese community, and has lived in [Shanghai for over 30 years, He served as public prosecutor on many important criminal cases during the last twenty years on behalf of the Portuguese Government. The interment took place at Bubbling Well Cemetery in the afternoon with Father Jacquinot again officiating, and among, those present were the Portuguese Consul-General, Dr, Antonio J. Alves, and other leading members of the Portuguese bar. The chief mourners were the widow and three sons, A beautiful cross of white roses from his wife rested upon the casket which was carried to the grave by Messrs: F. X. Gutterres, J. M. B. Remedios, P.M, Lobo, A.da Silva, F. da Luz, and A. J." Xavier
