Britain's Popularity In U.S. Waning Germany, Running Third After France, Losing

New York, Nov. 20.

Great Britain's popularity in the United States is on the wane, if statistics compiled by the Institute of Public Opinion, are to be considered.

This Institute conducts an annual referendum among the population of the United States on the question "With which European country do you sympathize?"

Great Britain came first this year with 47 per cent. of the votes, a drop of eight per cent. on the previous consultation which was taken in April 1936.

France comes next with twelve per cent. followed by the three totalitarian states, Germany, Italy, and Soviet Russia in that order.

Germany's percentage dropped by four points this year, while Italy's remained steady at three per cent, Soviet Russia got two per cent. of the votes.—Havas.
