Designed to serve areas in Greater Shanghai, outside the Settlement and the French Concession, the Greater Shanghai Gas Company, a Y.3,000,000 firn organized under the laws of the "Reformed Government" in Nanking, came Japanese into being on Tuesday, newspapers reported yes-ni, Minister of Industry of the "Reformed Government," and promoters of the new joint Sino-Japanese concern, attended the inaugural meeting held at the Astor House on Tuesday afternoon.
Japanese investments, totalling Y.2500000, will be made by the Central China Development Ca. which will subscribe Y.1,500,000, and leading Japanese gas compan which will jointly subscribe Y.1,000, 000. The Shanghai Real Estate Company will invest Y.200000. while Y.300,000 worth of shares will be put on the market for sale among Chinese.
M. Aimei Toyosho, former managing director of the Hiroshima Gas and (Electric Power Ca; Mr. Chen Shao-yen, director of the Shanghai Real Estate Ca, and Mr. Mikichi Iwakura, of the Tokyo Gas Chemical Industry Company, were tentatively chosen to act as managing directors, the Japanese papers said. Mr. Fei Wu-yn was to be appointed compte roller, the dailies declared.
