A false report of robbery sent detectives of the Hongkew Police Station out investigating yesterday morning. The report was given by young Chinese who related that while he was riding a bicycle in Broadway East, near Yuenchang Road, at 1030 o'clock, he was stopped by three men one of whom threatened him with a pistol. He said the bandits robbed him of $400 and fled.
Det.-Sub-Insp. P. Smith, attached to Hongkew Station, after investigation ascertained that the "complainant" had not been robbed at all but that the $400, belonging to a firm, had been diverted. Further inquiries are being made by the Police.
