BON VOYAGE

Amongst the passengers sailing for Home on Feb. G in th s. Antenor was Mr. H. 1 Prideaux-Bruno who has just handed over his duties as H.B.M, Consul of Nanking. Probably Consul in China has hed to face a more dimeult situation than that. which confronted Mr, Prideaux-Bruno during the last few months of his term at Nanking, and certainly none could have handled such a situation with greater ability and tact,' or with more consideration for all who came, to him with their problems which were both many' and varied. Not only did he remain at his post until he had accomplished all that could' humanly be done: in such dificult circumstances, but he returned to Nanking as. soon as possible: afler its occupation, re-established the Consulate there, and remained in the late capital until a few days before his departure on leave. In appreciation of his kind helpfulness and never-failing courtesy under extremely trying conditions, a presentation was made to Mr. Prideaux-Bruno a few days ago by some of those who were in Nanking during the past few months and who will always remember the sterling qualities displayed by him fu the best traditions of the Service he so nobly represents, Wishes are generally expressed that Mr. Prideaux-Bruno will have very enjoyable holiday in England, and early recognition of the valuable: services he has rendered at Nanking. 7
