Pickets Act to Prevent Men Returning to Work The strike at Lun Chang Cotton Mill, Pootung in which pickets organized by strikers alleged to have been politically inspired prevented workers from going to work on Monday, may be settled through diplomatic channels the management having made a report to the British Consulate-General, according to a Chinese report. Workers are stated to be willing to resume work.
It will be recalled that when the workers tried to return to work on Monday they were stopped from doing so by pickets appointed by the Lun Chang Workers League who travelled in sampans. -As a result of their interference, only a few hundred workers could enter the mill but since the mill employs more than 2000 workers it was forced to suspend operations pending the final settlement of the trouble.
