Moscow, June 23.
The number of Soviet divisions in the Baltic countries—Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania—is only 18 or 20, not 100 as stated by some quarters, declared the Moscow Radio last night, broadcasting a statement by the official Tass Agency.
"They are not concentrated along the German frontier, but are distributed among the three Baltic republics; they do not serve to press upon Germany, but provide a guarantee for carrying out the assistance pacts of the Soviet with the three Baltic States."
"The statement emphasized the "good neighbour ly relations between the Soviet Union and Germany," and said they could not be disturbed by rumours but were rooted in the common interests of the two countries.—

Washington, June 23.
New of the signing of the Franco-German armistice was received with disappointment here. Up to the last it had been hoped that France, while abandoning the fight at home, would carry on from colonial territory. Reuter.
