Burma Road Reopening Expected in Chungking

"Britain Released From, Treaty Obligations"

Chungking, Sept. 30.

Belief that Britain will soon reopen the Burma road to passage of arms for China was expressed yesterday by Mr. Oong Wen-hao Minister of Economic Affairs, who said Britain must now have realized that appeasement cannot change Japan's hostile attitude, which is proved by the new three-power alliance.

The "Ta Kung Pao," leading daily, say "The' latest action by releases Britain from whatever treaty obligations she might have towards the Japanese. Whether on moral or legal grounds Britain must immediately reopen the Burma road."
