Two Girls As Members Italian Monarch's Of World Junk Crew Party of Eight Hope to

Encircle World

Two intrepid young Russian girls, Miss O. Alksner and Miss Luba Schennikoff, aged 20 and 21 respectively, hope to demonstrate that) the junk-sailing habit which appears to have captured the youthful population today is not a field for men only. Stirred by a call of adventure, they have visions of completing a world trip on one of these vessels as members of the crew, which will consist of six men and themselves.

The craft in which they hope to accomplish this feat has been named the Adventure and will be under the command of Capt. A. C. Newton, a local Briton. The chief officer will be Mr. Leo S. Tomashevsky, holder of the China record for the 100 yards, while the engineer will be Mr. Leo V. Rudchenko, also an athlete of no mean prowess, being a former holder the Shanghai 400 metres record and Far Eastern skating champion. Messrs. S. Mourzanoff, P. Piatakoff, and V. Dzull are engaged as sailors.
