The patrons of the exhibition are ihe Chinese Ambassador, the Swiss Minister, and the Chairman of the Universities' China Committee (Sir Neill Malcolm). Mr. George Eumorfopoulos, who is a member of the general committee, has contributed to the exhibition four woven pictures from his own collection.
The Vuilleumier collection contains 160 pieces, including 50 Imperial robes, and shows examples from the tenth century to the downfall of the imperial regime. Some of the finest of the robes in the exhibition belonged to the eighteenth-century Emperor Chien Lung and symbolize the supernatural power of the Emperor They include his marriage robe, coro-ration robe, and five sacrificial roves.
