For four days the camp had been under water and tempers were getting touchy.
This evening in the canteen a heated argument started about the various officers. A visitor said that his C.O. was a regular scorcher ior discipline.
"Nothing to ours!" replied the camp wit. "Do you know, in the orderly-room this morning, the old man gave one of our fellows two day's C.B. for washing his hands in the water we have to sleep in!"
Elusive Manston Jusr to show how inaccurate the German propagandists can be the following, taken from three descriptions of German raids on Britain, appeared in the German news agency's output yesterday:—Under the caption "More raids on Britain" there was the following: "By these raids the aerodrome of Manston in Dorset was badly damaged."
Under the heading "Channel Air Battle Described":—The airdrome at Manston near Canter bury was completely destroyed."
And finally under "Further details on Latest German Attacks on Britain" "As already reported the airdrome of Manston near Canterbury was effectively hit."
It may be pointed out that Manston, which has been variously "badly damaged," "completely destroyed." or "effectively hit" is in Dorset. So the first guess was right but the other two wrong.
