Againalarge field ofrestive ponies pranced, twisted, mingled, and showed off their jockeys? bright colours under the admiring {gaze of the occupants of the Stand. After Several attempts to bring them all on something like even terms, a passably good start was made, and away they, scampered with Alexis at their head. "The Drummer Boy, however, rattled his sticks at a very lively rate, and took charge of the van as the Stables were passed, sticking to this post of honour til the field arrived at Probst's Corner. Pigeon Vole also had a fly, and Major Dome Stood well for a time. These outsiders 'soon gave way to Cocorico, who on the run down by the Monument made up time at such a rate that the race looked asit it were already his. Drummer Boy could not keep up the pace, and a number of new hands bean to look like winning, includ ing Heather Bell and Savernake, Alexis reappeared at the Corner with arrish that bore him past the leader, and after a keen race up the straight, Cocorico was obliged further to yield to Screw, the latter being admirably ridden out, while the winner deserves even more credit for clever jockeyism.

Fiéche stood fourth at the close. Time, 2m. 41s.
