Harvey's dun Heather Bell 12st

Kushan's dun Leecherafe 12st 7b. Jos. Dawson's chesnut Gang Forward 12st Alb A small but interesting field was made up for the Welter Cup, and the race was fast one. The start was easily managed, and from the outset the good knight was in the van, Leecheraft second for the time being. this place however he surra dered to Heather Bell, and then as Probst's Corner was reached to Godolphin, who held it very temporarily, Gang Forward beginning to go m away which looked as if mischief were meant by the able jockey who urged him. But this spurt was also short, and Godolphin towards the ast commer came out again. All the way home Sir Launcelot was unmenaced, but he had to make good time, though he won by several lengths. Grasshopper came rapidly on the inside, but his bounds were only able to make him third, Heather Bell close fourth. Mr. Bill's grey Fee-mah 10st 2b Henry's bay Climaz 10st 81.

Do. dun Sleepy Hollow 10st Sib..

'The Steeplechase did not seem to offer encouragement to jockeys fond of that kind of riding, probably from the fact that Climaz: or his' stable-mate Sleepy Hollow winning it was a foregone conclusion, Feemah came out however, and a start was made, but ecmah' gave tup at the "natural," and could not again be brought to face his work. The other two rode once round very prettily, taking the double below the Stand simultaneously, and spectators, after perching themselves on the roof, and patiently wait ing for about 15 minutes to see what was to happen, were not altogether appointed, unless the absence of spills might be said to have deprived the affair of half its interest.
