Hun-tin-tze did his very best to escape from the strong hands of Mr, Fabach, and repeat his eccentric performance inthe first race, but he was firmly restrained, and as no actual false start occurred, ho got away with the others. Light Brigade and Pride of the Meadow led off, the latter soon lending by a short distance, while Cui Bone exerted himself to some good as they got round by the Stables. At Probst's Corner they could not be made out very well, but later on Mudjekeewis appended hard beset by Souvenir, who soon distanced him, and between those two a fine race, was made. Longfellow's friend was game to the end, and made a'last spurt at the finish which showed him to be a stout opponent, but Souvenir was being ridden out more comfortably, the cheroot which his jockey had lighted before starting still giving off calm clouds of smoke when he was hailed the winner, Lanercost made a fair third, with Racenswood (wrongly entered in the list as Ravenshoe) fourth.
