Trogolygdon jumped off with the lead, which he held over the first hurdle. Apollyon, coming next, burst through instead of jumping, and threw his rider Sacernake '3rd and Bintang 4th.—At the Qnd hurdle, Reindeer refused and was also out of the race. At the 3rd, Bintang had a good lead, Pancharte 2nd, and Serenader Grd, all taking their leaps very prettily. On the nearing the 7th hurdle, the two latter closed somewhat on the leader, but failed to reach him, and the three came in the order named, Bintang winning easily, having cleared" everything; Puncharte knocked down his 7th hurdle and came in 4 or 5 lengths behind the wiser Serenader, who had also taken his jumps With the two first ponies. Wednesday, 29th April, 1874.

The last day was perhaps, as regarded temperature, the most pleasant of the three; the thermometer was still high, but a haze somewhat dimmed the glare of the sun, and a strong southerly wind made the heat quite bearable, There were comparatively few people on the Stand when the first race was run, but the numbers increased during the afternoon; and the ultimate vote was, we think, that this was the most pleasant day of the Meeting.

It certainly produced some excellent racing. Sowvenir's double performance—winning the Spring Cup (2 miles)at 1.30 p.m. and running a good second for the champion (1}m.) at 5 p.m.—stamps him a first class pony; while the form in which his old opponent Ravenshocwasbroughtto the post, great credit to the careful treatment of his trainer. It is not a little remarkable that the same two ponies should have run first and second in this race at two conaccutive Meetings, making virtually the same time, The official time is 4s. better now than in the autumn, but this difference is hardly appreciable. It is said, indeed, that the result might have been still closer, had Souvenir been able to get earlier through his ponies.

The events came off rather more in accordance with prophecy than on. Tuesday. A small pot on Glencoe was upset by Souvenir in, the Spring Cup 5 but though several other wins" were surprises, they did not equally upset "certainties." A great deal of interest was shown in the events throughout, the successes of the old favourites Ravenshoe and Souvenir being loudly cheered, as well as the skill of their jockey 1,—Tue Great Noxtuern Hanvicar.
