A Meeting of the North China Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society was held in the Society's Rooms on Wednesday evening, under the presidency of Mr. G. J. Morrison, Present, Mr. Southey, acting as Sec who has resigned, Messrs. Toda, Agar, Gill. Slevogt, A.J. Liltle, Kingsmill, Stripling, Ri ton and others, The following new members were lected: Dr. Tanner, Kiukiang; Messrs. B. Goldsmith, J. Baeslar and E. A. von Amelunxen. The President then read_an extract from a pamphlet entitled ''L'Adoption dun Maitre Méridien International, la fixation de Méridions servant d'unité pour la supputation temps suivant lo project dont fut faite an Congress International de Venise, by Sandford Fleming, C.M.G., and laid upon the table the report of Lienttenant Kreitner, the delegate of the Society at the Geographical Congress of Venice. Senor Toda's paper 'On the Minor Currency of Awnam' was read by Mr. Haas, that gentleman being the only one present who could give any explanatory remarks upon the subject.
