Annual Match and Dinner Club Shanghai Cricket

S.G, C.; HON, SECKETARY'S ELEVEN v, HON — 'TREASURER'S ELEVEN

On Saturday those two important officials of the club, the Hon, Secretary and Ho Treasurer, were each in command of a team, and a very interesting match resulted. A slight shower fell during the early part of the afternoon, but from that time the rain held over and the weather was most favourable for cricket. The rain, however, seemed to have slightly affected the wicket, balls at o when the grass was wet, keeping low, and afterwards, when the sua came out, rising very sharply; and in consequence, the scoring was not large. Nichol was caught at the wicket at 76, but with Beresford in, the winning hit was made amid loud cheers. The end, however soon came, Beresford being bowled 88, and Fisher taking the last two wicke with successive balls at 93. Shewan took out his bat for 30, " very good innings.
