Toa particularly satisfactory start, Sprrtan cut out the running and going by the Stand for the first time, he was leading by about couple of lengths from Protector, Des troyer lying last. At the Bend the only noticeable change in the relative positions was that Detrimental had joined Protector in second place. Spartan had a lead of couple of lengths passing the Loongfei gate, Detrimental and Protector still being' his nearest neighbours, whilst The Broker was now coming into prominence. The field closed up considerably approaching the three-quatter-mile post and a little further along Spartan and Protector were on even. terms, The Broker going easily fourth, At Probst's Corner Spartan had shaken off Protector, and Kenneth had taken third place, Nearing the Monument Detrimental made his effort, and Protector being done for, passed Kenneth and ran into second place. The Broker, however, soon changed the appearance of the rice; and. maki splendid rash came into the straight with a considerable advantage, whilst Detrimental gave place to Playmate. The Broker in the Tun home was never in danger of bein; aught and won with a good deal in hand by three lengths, a length between second and third.—Time, mins. Lisees.
