Notes from the South

THE WEEK

There is little news of any kind to record during the past week. Things continue very quiet, and the weather very hot, being nowise cooled by the rain that fell early in the week. To-day is somewhat drier, but the sun is fierce and the heat oppressive.

Amusements have been very scarce during the interval, and limited in kind. To-day and to-morrow the aquatic sports of the Victoria Recreation Club take place, but no very lively interest is felt in these sports except by a limited circle.

Text read from the printed page and cleaned; old type leaves the occasional error.
