The Swimming Club Sports

The annual sports promoted by the Shanghai Swimming Bath Club took place on Saturday but the attendance was only small, owing entirely to the bad weather prevailing. "The committee hud received quite a gratifying entry list but the competitors were only few in number, and it is a matter for surprise, if not indeed regret, that such a small proportion of our local rising generation evince any interest in natation, The sports at the same time must be voted a success and it might be added that a record was established for Shanghai by R. H. Moorhead, his 50 seconds in the two lengths swim being the fastest done in the Bath here, Details of the events are appended 1.—Piuxce From THE SECOND Boarp.
