THE STEAMERS

Wo have not yet seen the extra steamer, in connection with the Chungking Trading Company, plying on the upper part of the river, but hope to do so shortly, for, owing to the erratic sailings of those we already have, our mails are woefully irregular, and we not infrequently get two by the same boat, I suppose we may hope, some day, to see these upper river steamers as regular and punctual as those on the lower river. But that, like most good things, seems to be stored in the womb of the future; which, ay we all know, is pregnant with new things for fresh generations.
