An anonymous benefactor has relieved the service of gold plate presented to St. Paul's Cathedral by Mr. Hooley from the figurative stain which it received from the recent bankruptcy of its donor. The cost of the plate was £1,500; and by the generosity of the unknown one the Chapter of St. Paul's are enabled to present this sum to Mr. Hooley's trustee for the benefit of his creditors, who will therefore have no ground for feeling that they have been sufferers through their debtor's piety.
