At once the gongs sounded. and the men turned out with guns, knives, agricultural implements, ete., whilst the poor women and children wailed in an agony of fear. The alarm was a false one. At once an enquiry was instituted as to who had given the false alarm, with the result that the enraged villagers pulled down three houses of people involved, whilst the barber has. fed. for his lit It is to be hoped that some way out of the trouble may be found besides that of firing of villages and indiscriminate shooting of men.
