'THE EGYPTIAN QUESTION M. HANOTAUX'S EXPLANATION

London, 9th February.

M. Hanotaux, speaking in' the Chamber of Deputies, in reference to the statement made by Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, said that the policy of France was best defined by a French and Russian protest; that it was not desirable to enter into a parliamentary polemic, and that it was important at the present delicate juncture to do nothing to imperil the concert of the Powers which France was doing her utmost to maintain, but that nevertheless France would never suffer any violation of her rights founded on international treaties and pledges.
