The British Post Office

To the Editor of the "Norta-Catna Dairy News."

Smm.—Recently I remitted to England a sum of money by means of British Post Office postal orders. The orders cost $12. 30per21. The rate of exchange at the local banks is $10.84 per £11 The dispsiity in the rates is so glaring that one wonders why. the British Post Office authorities do not adjust their exchange scales at shorter intervals than appears to be, the case. The above represents a profit of over $l on every £1 postal order issued. Surely the public is entitled to at least participate in the advantages of the more favourable tate of exchange which has ruled for the Inst three o: four months; but in the present instance the British Post Office contrary o the spirit of the mang liberal concessions hitherto made, appropriates to itself the entire benefit of the recent appreciation ut silver.
