THE SOCIETY OF INTERNATIONAL 'ART

which was inaugurated Inst year has again located itself at Princes," Kuizhtsbridge, and threw open: its doors for its second season last Tuesday. Not its least recommendation is the most excellent method adopted with regard to the hanging. Works are sent in principally by invitation, and care is taken that there shall be plenty of wom allowed to show them effectivelyp—is not the case everywhere, This year there is an undue preponderance of good subject pictures and landscapes, portraits, -but there are also. many it. John Lavery the 'Vice-President, has sent, some very good work; his "Lady in Black" being particularly well done. To Mr. Whistler, as President, special space "has"bven' allotted and hiv six studies occupy' quite" n' large space in the. centre of one of the walls, Mr. George *Heiiry "has''some powerful straits, notably"one of "Mr. Justice orling in his new robes. Of the landscapes think "An 'Old Chatk-pit" by "Mr, Aunionier, Spring" by'Mr. H. Thomson, and Mr. Leslie Thomson's 'Near Southend" most took my fancy; but "M. Stephenson's 'A 'Song without' Words and Mr. JR. Murray's " Autumn Landscape" were likeiwise'well worth seeing.
