A Canton dispatch reports the capture the other day of a large number of magazine rifles and some sixty boxes of ammunition in the vicinity of Nankang-Kou, on the East River, near Canton, by the Chinese gunboat Heian. The contraband was being carried in a couple of nocent looking' native passenger boats, but there being a traitor in one of the boat's crows, the men-of-war's men had no trouble in capturing the two boats, although their respective crews escaped by jumping into the river.
