PLAGUE RAVAGES

Some time ago a boys! boarding school, in charge of an Americen missionary, had to be suddenly closed on xceunt of the death of two pupils from the plague. A short time afterward, x district meeting of native preachers and helpers also had to adjourn in the midst of their deliberations owing to the same cause, two of their number having suddenly died.' At present the entire district is suffering from one of the most severe droughts in all its history. The patience and good order of the people under such afflictions is almost incredible. Theic loyalty to the Emperor is especially marked.
