The Commonwealth Bill

progresses but slowly in the House of Parliament. At present it is in the hands of the Law Officers of the Crown, who seem keenly hent on mutilating it in one or two directions. The Federal Representatives, of whom Mr. Barton for N.S.W. and Mr. Deakin for this colony are amongst the number, are, however, keenly alive to the passage of the Bill in its original torn voted for here by a large majority in colony, so that there is every prospect of its speedy return here unaltered.
