The Governor of Shantung

We were expecting a visit from the Governor of Shantung, Chou Fu, who is now on a tour of inspection in this part of the province. But when he was within 90 i of the city, he suddenly swerved to the right, passing Ichoufu by. He gave as his reason that our district was so well governed and so peaceful that a visit from him was unnecessary. The real reason seems to have been, however, that he did not care to invite complication concerning official etiquette by visiting a place where member of the Imperial family (the aforementioned literary chancellor) was already ensconced.
