Mr. Martin Harvey

has become the lose of the Roy Theatre in Sloane Square for a season and has opened it with an adaptation of Mr. Marion Crawford's pretty story "A Cigarette Maker's Romance." Whether it is the fault of the adapter I do not know, but it does not work out quite well as one would expect. Mr. Harvey himself, however, is most excellent as the Count.' The picture is almost a companion one to his "Sydney Carlton" in phe Only Way." With the exception however, of Mr. Sydney Valentine, whose Dumnoff_ was well conceived, the rest of the Company were not good and to some extent handicapped the principal performer. has taken a flow lease of life at the Garrick; the old play which, like " Masks and Faces," britis back reminiscences of the Tanerofts, has been brought down from the bookshelf and dressed up with new frocks and a little new dialogue and seems to please almost as much as it did in days past and promise well for the future.
