The magistrate here is a terror to the unruly and has little merey for the roftians. Two.of the latter sort got hold of an old woman who was visiting the Temples by force and took her small sum of cash from her. The local militia heard of it, drums were beaten, and pursuit of the two men resulted in their capture. The old woman made an appeal to the magistrate not to curry out the extreme penalty. He sympathised with the woman, gave her a dollar, and ove of the men will not do any more ruffianly work in this world.
