Robber.
A man was charged with being concerned with others not in custody in robbing a Pootung pawnshop of valuables to the extent of $20,000.
Sergeant Lynch explained that the accused had been brought up about a week since, charged with being in possession of certain jewellery for which he had failed to satisfactorily account. At that time the evidence adduced was not sufficiently strong to warrant " conviction, but subsequent enquiries had shown that the jewellery was part of a large quantity that had been stolen in an armed robbery at Pootung, and accused had been identified as one of the robbers. Two other men had been apprehended and would appear before the Court in due course.
The prisoner was ordered to be handed over to the City authorities.
