The Bubbling Well Road Burglar

Commits Suicide in Gaol

The Bubbling Well Koad burglar has finished his life sentence with unusual celerity. On Christmas evening, about. eight o'clock, hi cell door was opened in order to give him his food. The cell which he' occupied was at the top of the prison, three storeys from the ground, and'no sooner was the door opened than the man rushed out and took a flying leap over the iron rail which sur. rounded. the corridor. He fell on his head on the cement floor of the yard below. A doctor was at once sent for, bat the prisoner had sustained such severe injuries that he died three hours later. From the way in which he took his life it would seem that he had premeditated the rash jump for some days before, and it seems probable when he took the whole of the blame upon his shoulders in Court he had already determined to finish his career rather then undergo a long term of imprisonment. He has died as desperately as he lived.
