The Hongkong branch of the China Association, which was for some time without a Chairman, on the resignation of the late Mr. Francis, K. C., has elected Mr. W. F. G. Playfair, manager of the National Bank of China, Limited, Chairman.

the 18th inst., a special resolution was passed providing for the voluntary liqui dation of the Company, the property having been sold. Mr. J. G. Schroter was appointed liquidator and his remuneration fixed at $2,000. 'The Chairman in his statement showed that there would be about $185,000 to be divided, or nearly $52. per share, the paid-up' value of which is $87.50, so that the realisation will be profitable.
