An pool has been made to the people of Swatow for funds to pay for the interment of these bodies. So far the presence of these bodies in the sea remains a mystery, but it is supposed that a steamer carrying passengers must have foundered in the vicinity, and it was at first rumoured that. the Chow Tai, one of the North German Lloyd. vessels, was the sufferer, but intelligence has since been received of her safe arrival on the 4th inst. at Bangkok German Interests at Pakhoi-'Our German friends, following the lead of our French neighbours, have discovered that their interests at this port require Dr. Mudra, the newly appointed Consul, the protecting care of a representative. who arrived in Pakhoi in November last, is now creating a Consulate. Dr. Mudra ix also appointed Consul for Hoi-uow, in Hainan. Pakhoi now has three Consuls in residence there—British, French, and German.
