The authorities are contemplating opening a new city gate on the east of the city, ssu aS to accommodate the increased trafic which is sure to come with the coming of the railway. As it is now, Chinanfu has only th.eo city gates, and the one on the east, even now, is sometimes blocked with vehicles, so that it is impossible for a while to get through There was, I believe, some talk of opening a uew street clear through the city from east to west, but that has been given up as being too enormously expensive. That there is already need of a new gate, which will be increasingly so as time goes on, is very apparent to anyone who knows the situation. The sooner it is opened the better.
