SHANGHAI, Lo the Editor of the "Norra-Cmrxa Dany News.

Sin,—I am directed by the Officer Commanding the 8. V. C to enlist your kind offices in making known to the public his desire to form a Company of Mounted Infantry. Gentlemen desiring to join will please apply tome by letter addreasod to the Orderly Room, Central Police Station. The Commanding Officer reserves to himself the right to reject any one he may consider unsuitable from physical or other causes. Candidates for admission will have to show that they are ble to ride before their applications can be entertained. Members will have to provide their own ponies and saddlery—uniform, arms, and equipment being provided by the Corps. As the horse in Mounted Infantry is used as a means of mobility only, it is not proposed to exact a large number of mounted drills, and it is for this reason that proficiency in equitation will be insisted on before a man can be admitted.
