ADMIRAL TOGO'S OFFICIAL REPORT

Our combined fleet manceuvres as previously arranged. The two' flotillas of destroyers performed their share of work from the night of the 21st to daybreak of the following day outside the harbour of Port Arthur. During that time they were occasionally fired on by the enemy but no injury was sustained. Our main fleet and cruisers approached Port Arthur at 8 a.m. on the 22nd inst., and a detachment thereof was sent in the direction of Pigeon Bay whence the Fuji and Yashima bombarded the harbour, During' this bombardment the enemy's ships: came one after another from the harbour and a little after 2 p.m. when the bombardment ceased there were in all five battleships, four cruisers and ten destroyers. The enemy moving under shelter of the forts appeared to wish to draw us on. The enemy kept up a considerable fire and many shells fell near the Fuji but no injury was inflicted, Our entire squadron retired before 8 p.m.
