Ellis Kadoorie School

ANNUAL SPORTS

There was a splendid attendance of boys at the Ellis Kadoorie School for Chinese on Saturday afternoon to witness the sparta Mr. L. H. Turner, who was in charge of the meeting, had arranged a most attractive programme and every event was keenly contested. As usual the relay race and the tug-of-war were productive of great excitement. The rivalry that exists between the two Municipal Council schools is very healthy, and twice a year the two exert themselves to the utmost to pull off these events. The relay race on Saturday was a very close event and the Public School for Chinese team won by inches. The Ellis Kadoorie school tug-of-war team was too heavy for the other and won rather easily.

At the conclusion of the sports the prizes were distributed in the large hall. Mr. A. J. Stewart made the presentation. Mr. R. G. Dowie, headmaster, called for cheers for Mrs, Stewart, Mr. Turner and for all who had assisted in any way tomake the sports a success. In conclusion he referred to the pleasure it afforded him and all connected with the school to meet in friendly rivalry the boys from the Public School for Chinese, Mr. R. F. H. Kirk on behalf of the Publio School for Chinese thanked both teachers and boys of the Ellis Kadoorie School for their cordial reception. Results 100 yards, Handicap (Junior)—ished Zung-wob; 2.
