The river is now on the rise, and the several hundred feet of sand between the Bund and the water exposed in the winter season will soon be covered. On the rise of the water the people who live in mat huts on the sand-bank have to make a sudden and rapid departure. Although they know quite well the river will rise, and even see it rising, they put off till the waters ace surrounding their dwellings, and sometimes have to leave their huts to be gradually demolished by the flood.
