Repairing Damaged Telephone Wires

The authorities of this city have persevered in a praiseworthy manner with the replacing of the electric light and telephone wires and poles, which were 80 seriously destroyed by the November blizzard. The work was and is a most difficult ome. The difficulty in obtaining fresh supplies of poles and wires, and the digging of holes in the ground which ie frozen solid down to about three or four feet already, has made progress dealt with more readily as they had plenty of reserves of materials and trained workmen to hand, and their losses were much smaller than those of the Chinese.
