Phe only quarter from which any discordant note has been heard during the Coronation preparations except Battersea jis Ireland, where the trouble has become intensified. There is, howeve good ground for believing that the dis-Affection is not really deep-seated. Mr. McHugh, M.P., has just been sentenced to three months' imprisonment for cun-tempt of court, a just punishment for Dlatantly vulgar and silly "torrent of abuse to which he treated the magistrates before whom he was brought on a charge of conspiracy under the Crimes Act. It is hoped that the Irish landlords have found a better way of meeting the no rent agitation than by means of criminal prosecutions. Lord de Freyne is bringing a civil action for damages against a number of M. P.'s who, ashe alleges, have incited his tenants to refuse to pay rent. If the landlords can strike at the pockets of the Irish members, and at the common purse of the Trish Parliamentary party, they will probably strike with much more effect than by getting them put in prison.
