CANADIAN PREMIER'S VIEWS

London vid Bombay, September 23.

Speaking at Ottawa in reply toa resolution of the Canadian Trades and Labour Congress, which asked for the abrogation of the treaty with Japan, Sir Wilfrid Laurier said that the treaty was of great advantage to Canada, whose trade with Japan had increased considerably.

The Canadian Premier said further, that he did not believe that the regrettable incidents which occurred at Vancouver were due to the influx of Japanese. The disturbances were directed against Asiatics generally, and precipitate action might be regrettable.

The Government, he added, would, however, inquire carefully into the causes of the recent influx.—Reuter.
